Event Details
Dear All
We would like to formally announce that JAVAWUG (Java Web User Group) is holding the Forty Nineth Birds-of-Feather (Meet-up 49) at EMC/Conchango on Wednesday, 17st June 2009 from 18:30 until 20:30. We have the pleasure of welcoming Jason van Zyl of Sonatype once again to talk us about Maven 3.0.
Jason gave a previous talk on Maven 2, way back in 2006 (JAVAWUG BOF 22 Maven 2.0 Google Video). Now, we have another chance, much better and in new surroundings.
This is sure to be a sell out event, so book now.
Title: Maven3.0 Update with Nexus and Tycho
Speaker: Jason van Zyl
Talk
Maven 2.0
- Components lacked degree encapsulation and layering
- Code base in many diffcult to understand and there was very hard to get more people involved as software developers
- There were fundamental problems with artifact resolution system
Maven 3.0
- Fewer modules, code has been reduced, and has been heavily refactored
- We hope the code base will be simpler so that more people can get involved
- Better support for IDEs; all Maven integration in IDEs is actually using 3.x
- Model Builder Specificationl detailed instructions on how the POM (Project Object Model) is constructed
- Complete rewrite of the artifact resolution system
Jason van Zyl was thinking he would talk about Maven 3.x, Nexus, Tycho
and how this
all ties together to create an end-to-end OSGi development system. He
thinks that would be of interest to the group. Your opinion matters so
send your feedback to the mailing list.
